Hi, I am Lukas
I'm a project manager. A parent. An expat residing in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the plans for the distant future. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and grew into something much larger.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more burdensome than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built ExpatHome Journey
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or shallow tourism material. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Represents (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Netherlands continues, and the learning process goes on. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep noting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Lukas
